 Period 82: Language Focus I. Passive forms:
Active: S + V + O
Passive: S + BE + V_ed/column 3 + (By O) 1. Passive in present ( bị động hiện tại)
 She eats rice everyday. 
 Rice is eaten everyday.
 S + am / is/ are + V-ed/column 3+ (by O).
2. Passive in past ( bị động quá khứ )
 She played chess yesterday.
 Chess was played yesterday
 S + was / were + V-ed/column 3 + (by O).
3. Passive in future ( bị động tương lai )
 Tom will buy some books tomorrow.
 Some books will be bought by Tom tomorrow
 S + will be + V-ed/column 3 + (by O). Exercise 1:

4. Passive in present perfect.( bị động hiện tại hoàn thành )

Eg: It is a contest in which participants have to cook rice. 
 It’s a rice-cooking contest.
 Compound adjectives = Noun + V-ing
 - A compound adjective is an adjective that contains two or 
 more words.
 - In general, we put a hyphen “-” between two or more 
 words (before a noun) when we want them to act as a single 
 idea (adjective) that describes something. Exercise 3:
a) It is a contest in which participants have to make fire.
 It’s a fire-making contest.
b) It is a festival in which people have their bulls fight against each other.
 It’s a bull-fighting festival.
 c) The United States has a big industry that makes cars.
 It’s a car-making industry.
 d) Last week Tran Hung Dao School held a contest in which students 
 arranged flowers as attractively as they could.
 It’s a flower-arranging contest.
 e) Viet Nam is a country which exports a lot of rice.
 It’s a rice-exporting country.
 f) This is a machine which is used to wash clothes.
 It’s a clothes-washing machine.. III. Reported speech:
 Eg: Direct speech: Lan said “ My mother is cooking in this kitchen now”.
 Reported speech: Lan said her mother was cooking in that kitchen then.
 *Tenses: Present simple Past simple

 *Pronouns: (depend on the subject of the main clause)
 *Adv of place and time:
